Whether you are a connoisseur & have a large collection of fine wines or are just like me & just enjoy a glass or three over dinner the addition of an Avanti Wine Cooler to your home may interest you. There are a few things to consider before investing in a wine cooler
- How much space do I have - Units are available that hold over 100 bottles & obviously vary in size.
- Where do you want to place it?
- Do you have children around? If so you may want to think about getting a Wine Chiller that locks?
- Another factor that is often overlooked is which way the door opens. Look for a unit with reversible hinges.
- Check the venting is compatible with where you want to place the cooler. For example under counter appliances need to be front-vented.
- Decide which type of wine you want to store.
If you are a connoisseur of fine wine you will be aware that the temperature wine is stored at is an important factor. If you just enjoy the odd glass but would like to start expanding your knowledge as a general rule the best storage temp for all wine is between 7 - 15 degrees C (45 - 60 F) Here is a brief guide by type White- serving too cold is not ideal anything below 45 °F it may cause the wine to lose flavour - most consider is 10 -13 C (50 - 55 °F) is best. Red - serve at a temp no higher than 18 C (65°F) as it is the opposite to white & serving too warm will affect flavour. Rose - same as white 10 -13 C (50 - 55 °F) Champagne- serving these at around 13c (40°F) is considered ideal. Once you have decided how many bottles & what type of wine you are going to store you can think about Temperature Controls. For multi storage you will need a dual temp cooler. Another consideration is the shelf size, if they are adjustable it will make storage of unusually shaped bottles, champagne for instance easier. Prices will clearly vary between style & size but there are various Avanti Wine Coolers to choose from that will suit most peoples budgets. There are various different Wine Coolers for sale don't make the mistake of thinking you can just store whites in the refrigerator & red in a cupboard or closet, if you provide the perfect temperature & humidity you can entertain & enjoy with confidence.
